Bid Day: Making It Special For Your New Members
When it comes to sororities, it doesn’t get much better than bid day. That is one of the most special and momentous days for new members of sororities. It is when the new sisters are accepted into the charter. It is the day they have been waiting for since they started college and were interested in sororities. It is a day where you can finally sit back, relax, and know that you are part of the group. You no longer have to wait, worry, or wonder if you are accepted. You can rest easy knowing that all of your hard work has finally paid off. You are one of them.

It is a life changing day as you meet your sisters and best friends and get to know them as they get to know you. It is important to make it a special day that they will remember for the rest of their lives. One way to do that is by decorating and making the ceremony room look as clean and professional as possible. It needs to have the feel of a big event that is only for a select few. People often talk about the Super Bowl and what a big event it is. This is the Super Bowl for sororities and it needs to feel like that and have the proper setup and design. It shouldn’t just feel like any other day or any other event. It needs to feel like THE event of the year for sororities.
Speeches and a sense of ceremony is also a big part of this event. It needs to be said in words as well: how special this is and what it means. Sometimes it can be difficult to put into words or express, but the magnitude of it needs to be expressed fully by past and current members. They need to let them know what to expect, what an honor it is, and what it means. They need to talk about the lifelong bond and friendships that are created. They also need to talk about the responsibility that comes with being a member in terms of how you are supposed to behave and act.

Lastly, they need to make it fun! They have worked hard to get to this point, so it is OK to let your hair down, dance a little bit, and enjoy some delicious food. They need to be relived and relaxed, knowing they are part of the charter now and have been accepted. It is important when planning to make it fun, which cannot be stressed enough. It needs to be a big event with food, bright lights, and great company. They will be able to look back on the day with great fondness and memories that will last a lifetime. They can share the photos with their future children and grandchildren and see huge smiles on their faces. It is all in the planning and making sure the preparation is there for a magical event.
